The Scottish Medicines Consortium published advice on seven medicines on 10 August 2026. All seven were accepted:
- Zilucoplan (Zilbrysq®) — Accepted for adults with generalised myasthenia gravis, a rare autoimmune condition causing muscle weakness, who have not had adequate symptom control with currently available treatments. 1
- House dust mite allergen extract (Acarizax®) — Accepted for patients aged 18–65 with moderate to severe house dust mite allergic rhinitis. SMC noted this is the first targeted treatment option specifically for house dust mite allergy. (This is not a high cost drug). 1
- Cabozantinib (Cabozantinib Ipsen®) — Accepted for adults with certain advanced neuroendocrine tumours where no other active treatment is available. Neuroendocrine tumours are rare cancers starting in nerve and gland cells. 1
- Dostarlimab (Jemperli®) — Accepted in combination with chemotherapy for adults with a specific type of advanced endometrial cancer. 1
- Upadacitinib (Rinvoq®) — Accepted for giant cell arteritis. An oral option that may help patients reduce corticosteroid dose and associated side effects. 1
- Levodopa/carbidopa/entacapone (Lecigon®) — Accepted for adults with advanced Parkinson’s disease. 1
- Sodium zirconium cyclosilicate (Lokelma®) — Accepted for adults with hyperkalaemia (raised blood potassium) who have chronic kidney disease or heart failure. 1
Blueteq comment:. Almost all would typically sit on Blueteq prior-approval forms in England, several under the Cancer Drugs Fund. The breadth of disease areas in a single month’s SMC decisions illustrates the scale of the managed medicines governance challenge without a digital prior-approval system.
